John R. Nickens IV, Chief Operating Officer of Clinical Affairs for Baylor College of Medicine will be our speaker today.
 

John Nickens has been fortunate to develop this twenty year career between Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital.

First in 1990, John worked at Texas Children's Hospital where he gained experience in each step of the hospital revenue cycle and basic hospital operations. Next in 1998, John moved to Baylor College of Medicine growing as a leader across all functions of the physician revenue cycle including the opportunity to serve as administrator for the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. in 2007, John returned to Texas Children's Hospital as Vice President of the Physician Services Organization to manage physician revenue cycle and managed care contracting across the Hospital Integrated Delivery System. Most recently in March 2010, Nickens was named Chief Operating Officer for Clinical Affairs back at Baylor College of Medicine. As COO for the clinical mission of the College, responsibilities include the overall operational, financial and strategic leadership for functional areas of Affiliate Partnerships, Patient Revenue Cycle, Faculty Practice Structure and Governance, Ambulatory Operations, Clinical Finance and Budgeting, Decision Support and Development/Marketing.

Nickens is recognized as a mission-driven, high expectations leader who successfully manages the balancing act between building stronger inter-personal relationships and holding individuals accountable for effective performance.

John Nickens is a graduate of LeTourneau University with a Bachelors of Business Administration and a member of the inaugural class of Certificate in Healthcare Management from Rice University. He is active in several professional organizations including American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management, the Medical Group Management Association and the American Association of Academic Pediatric Administrators.
