Founders and Directors of Kingdom Care

Julius and Shanda Karow married in 2011 & knew that their passion together would be for the Orphan. His grandparents adopted Julius and knew the importance of family reunification, having a strong support system, and keeping siblings together. Shanda grew up in a mainly single-parent home with her siblings and her mom, who became a licensed mental health therapist and worked with children under CPS care. Together, Julius and Shanda became foster parents in 2012. Over the years, they have fostered over 25 children and were blessed to become the forever family to 4 of those children through adoption. Throughout their journey's highs and lows, they knew their Heavenly Father was guiding their path, but they were always searching for people who could support & understand all that their family was facing. This is the passion behind Kingdom Care: no family would face this journey alone or be without a supportive group of people to rally alongside them as they say “Yes” to caring for the orphan. Their Journey has led them to the Orphan Care Pastor's roles at Risen Nation Church, where they serve a congregation devoted to emptying the Foster care system as well as Executive Directors of Kingdom Care.

Our Rotary social is on April 24, 2025. If you want to join us, you must sign up and pay in advance to secure your reservation. The cost of the event is $45 per person. There will be no billing for this event. Checks should be made payable to the Pasadena Rotary Club. We are scheduled to have a room downstairs from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. There will be a cash bar available. You are welcome to bring a guest. Someone who might be interested in joining Rotary would be great. I will have to provide the restaurant with the number of guests attending the week before the event.
Our last meeting before the event is this Friday, April 11th. Be sure to sign up and bring your check. If you have already signed up and don't have your check, bring it this Friday. I look forward to seeing you then! |

Tish Gale Eubanks graduated from the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. She began her teaching career in 1979, teaching at two private schools, Saint Dominic‘s in Mobile and then St. Pius in Pasadena. She taught religion, art, and social studies. In 1981, Mrs. Eubanks was hired at Park View Intermediate in Pasadena ISD, where she taught art, Texas history, and media production for the next 22 years before serving as a peer facilitator and testing coordinator. As the Student Activities Director at Park View, she organized school dances, mock elections, and award ceremonies in addition to her teaching responsibilities.
In 2003, Mrs. Eubanks opened the new premier PISD high school, Pasadena Memorial, as a world geography teacher and chair of the social studies department, ultimately serving as assistant principal. She was part of the leadership team that defined and built the Maverick spirit that continues today. Mrs. Eubanks' awards and honors are vast and span her teaching career. She enjoys a lifetime PTA membership, was named the Rotary Club's Teacher of the Year, is a Park View Hall of Fame recipient, and served as chairperson of the Texas Council for Social Studies for two years.
The Texas Statehood Walk, in celebration of Texas statehood, was also organized by Mrs. Eubanks. The esteemed Yellow Rose of Texas Award was bestowed upon Mrs. Eubanks by then-Governor of Texas, George Bush. Mrs. Eubanks holds two master's degrees from the University of Houston-Clear Lake: a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction and a Master's in Educational Management. For 38 years, Mrs. Eubanks has served and led students. Mrs. Eubanks enjoys spending time with her pets, children (Drew and Lauren), and her grandso,n Sam. She is widowed and currently working as the Educational Liaison for the City of Pasadena under Mayor Jeff Wagner. |

VP, Broadcasting and Voice of the Houston Texans at Houston Texans

Marc Vandermeer has been a team fixture since it began play in 2002, calling every snap the Houston Texans have ever taken as the team's play-by-play announcer. Vandermeer officially joined the Texans as the director of radio broadcasting in June 2012 and was promoted to senior director of broadcasting in June 2013 before being named vice president of broadcasting in 2016.
In his role, Vandermeer serves as the "Voice of the Texans" and oversees the programs and content on HoustonTexans.com, Texans Radio on the flagship station KILT SportsRadio 610 AM and Texans television programming on ABC-13/KTRK, KPRC and Fox Sports Southwest. He was also co-host of the morning drive show for SportsRadio 610 until May 2012. Since the Texans began play, Vandermeer is the only current team employee to attend every single game in franchise history.
Vandermeer came to the Texans following a successful three-year run as the play-by-play voice for the Miami Hurricanes on 560 WQAM. He called the action for the Hurricanes' football and baseball national championship teams in 2001, hosted the athletic program's weekly show, Hurricane Hotline, and filled in on the WQAM Morning Show.
From 1995-99, Vandermeer was the play-by-play voice for the UMass Minutemen and served as the UMass Radio Network Director for WHMP AM/FM. He was promoted to station manager his final year with WHMP.
Vandermeer has called NCAA Basketball Tournament games for Westwood One Radio and was the play-by-play voice for Central Michigan University from 1992-95. He also serves on the Junior Achievement Board of Directors.

Fix America

William M. Taggart IV has spent over 35 years working on major projects in deepwater oil/gas, shale oil, copper mining, and refineries. He is recognized as a subject matter expert on systems that control industrial applications and protect personnel, equipment, and the environment from those industrial processes. He took those skills and wrote "Fixing America: An Engineer's Solution to our Social, Cultural, and Political Problems". A book that Kirkus Reviews called "A timely, level-headed analysis of America's most polarizing political issues." This book takes America's problems and analyzes them with a nonpartisan, factual, data-driven approach to reach simple solutions that can be implemented. The book invites a discussion of the issues that America is grappling with. |
